Minute
Description
75'
N. Süle has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by Thiago Alcântara.
The assist for that goal was technically Thiago's, but Klaassen played as much a part in it. You'd think that Pavlenka would have claimed that if Klaassen hadn't touched it.
GOAL! BAYERN GET THE BREAKTHROUGH! Pavlenka is finally beaten. Sule shoots from range and deflects off the diving Klaassen. The deflection wrong-foots Pavlenka and bobbles into the net! 1-0 Bayern, and the win is surely theirs.
74'
Ribery has a shot blocked from a difficult angle. Not a bad way to enter the game from the Frenchman.
73'
Y. Osako enters the game and replaces M. Rashica.
Bremen make another change. Rashica off. Osako on.
72'
Goretzka heads wide from very close range from Kimmich's corner! Next, Lewandowski has a shot blocked. It feels like it's a matter of time until Bayern score.
71'
Muller can't reach a cross that's dropped to him at Pavlenka's left-hand post. Next, Alaba's cross is knocked out of play by Sahin. Bayern corner.
70'
F. Ribéry enters the game and replaces T. Müller.
In between Muller's header and Sahin's clearance, Muller trots off. He's replaced by the veteran Ribery.
68'
Alaba goes for another audacious goal, this time attempting a volley from about the same spot on the pitch. The outcome is exactly the same.
67'
Bayern come again. Alaba has a ridiculous shot from outside the box that whistles way over Pavlenka's goal. They won't score like that.
65'
Gnabry gets muscled off the ball by Augustinsson and appeals for a foul but it's a fair challenge by the Swedish left-back.
64'
Pavlenka prevents another goal, tipping Muller's right-wing cross wide as Lewandowski lurks at the far post. Bremen's keeper has been great today.
62'
Bremen have half an hour to hold out now, as they haven't looked like scoring all game. Bayern probe menacingly. Boateng's ball over the top bounces harmlessly out of play.
60'
S. Langkamp enters the game and replaces K. Möhwald.
Bremen also make a more enforced substitution. Mohwald goes off for the defender Langkamp.
59'
L. Goretzka enters the game and replaces Javi Martínez.
Bayern make their first change. Martinez is replaced by Goretzka.
Lewandowski has two cracks of the whip from the free-kick - his first effort hits the wall and his second bobbles wide of Pavlenka's goal. Bremen need to fix their now leaky back line.
58'
M. Veljković gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
RED CARD FOR VELJKOVIC! The Serbian defender receives his second yellow for raising his arm when challenging a header with Sule. He's understandably frustrated but everyone - even Bayern's players - seem sympathetic. How will this affect Bremen?
56'
Another Bayern corner is seen off by Bremen. The away side will concede sooner rather than later if they can't break this spell of pressure.
52'
Gnabry has a follow-up shot which is blocked by Veljkovic. Sule heads over from Kimmich's corner.
50'
The corner is cleared pretty quickly but Bayern win a free-kick down their left. Thiago's delivery is blocked but Klaassen loses out to the Spaniard as he attempts to break. This game is livening up now.
48'
Coman looks to attack Bremen's defence but, finding his path blocked by two defenders, elects to pass inside. Thiago's attempted through-ball is blocked.
47'
Boateng tangles with Rashica who takes a knock to his ankle. Thankfully the striker looks able to run it off.
46'
Bremen start the half quickly as they get a shot from the kick-off! Eggestein feeds Rashica who blazes over from outside the box.
45'
Lewandowski loses out to a header and appeals for a foul but nothing doing. Bremen look comfortable.
HALF TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 0-0 WERDER BREMEN
The second half gets underway! Can either side find a winner?
43'
Gnabry picks up speed and dribbles at pace towards Bayern's defence. The winger lashes a shot wide of Pavlenka's left-hand post. Better from Bayern.
42'
Coman makes another cross that Pavlenka catches easily. Bayern look slightly short of ideas at the moment.
40'
Not much. Alaba slips slightly as he takes his run-up and his left-footed effort goes no further than Bremen's wall.
39'
Klaassen is penalised for bringing down Gnabry on the edge of the box. What can Bayern make of this?
38'
Coman fizzes in a cross from the left that Pavlenka catches. He's judged to have conceded a corner. Pavlenka makes amends by punching Thiago's delivery away.
37'
Gnabry picks up the ball on the right but Augustinsson is there to boot the ball away. Bremen have done well to limit Bayern's chances so far.
35'
Bayern intercept the ball in the middle. Coman dribbles from the halfway line into Bremen's box but is stopped by Veljkovic. The ref says no foul.
33'
Bremen enjoy a spell of possession. Kruse shoots from distance - it's headed away by Sule. Bremen are finding Bayern's defence hard to break down so far.
32'
Gebre Selassie concedes a corner for Bayern, and it's very much safety first as he stops Gnabry reaching a cross. Lewandowski flashes a header wide from the corner again - the Pole was closer to testing Pavlenka this time.
30'
We haven't seen much from Bremen going forward for a while. Kruse tries to drive his team through the centre himself but Bayern's defence combine to nick it from him.
28'
M. Veljković gets yellow.
Lewandowski heads high and wide from the corner. Soon after, Veljkovic is booked for spotting a loose ball late and clattering into the back of Lewandowski as the striker ran for it.
25'
Gebre Selassie clips into the back of Coman. Bayern free-kick. Bayern work the ball to the opposite side and Kimmich's cross is headed towards the box by Thiago. Veljkovic gets there before Coman.
23'
Bayern threaten to create another scoring opportunity but Lewandowski can't pull the trigger. The home side are growing in influence slowly.
21'
Muller gets sight of goal and shoots from outside the box. It's straight into Pavlenka's hands. Muller looks apologetic to his team-mates - there wasn't much power on it.
20'
Alaba gets loose down the left and finds Coman on the left of Bremen's box. The Frenchman's shot is blocked.
18'
Ulreich makes a hash of a routine pass back and concedes a corner. Bremen may target Bayern's back-up keeper today. Thankfully for Ulreich, Sahin's eventual corner is woeful.
17'
A Bayern attack through the middle breaks down. Klaassen finds Kruse briefly breaking away down the left flank for Bremen but Boateng intercepts Kruse's attempted return pass.
15'
Muller wins a foul a few yards out from the box after Veljkovic hauls him down. The free kick is a waste that goes out for a goal kick.
13'
The ball gets bogged down in midfield for a while. Neither side can create a shooting opportunity at the moment.
11'
Bayern hold firm during the corner. Thiago tries to find Coman in space down the right but overcooks the pass. Bremen throw.
10'
Werder get a free-kick on their right about 40 yards out after Boateng impedes Eggestein. Sahin curls it in and it comes off a Bayern head for a corner.
8'
Now Bayern have their first corner of the game, conceded by Gebre Selassie. Martinez heads wide from Thiago's delivery.
7'
The corner - which came from a blocked shot by Eggestein - comes to nothing. Bayern can't counter-attack quickly but do get forward. Augustinsson fouls Lewandowski on Bayern's right flank.
5'
It's been quite a sedate start to the game with the bright weather no doubt playing a part - it's a typical late spring affair. Bremen win a corner down their right.
4'
Bayern manage to find a way out of Bremen's high press and gradually make their way upfield. Gebre Selassie misses a header and Coman picks it up but the eventual delivery is cleared.
3'
Bayern start the game cautiously as Ulreich's lax pass out from the back accidentally hands Werder possession. The away side keep the ball themselves for a bit.
1'
And we're off!
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Bundesliga clash between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena.
With just five games to go, Bayern will be confident of pipping Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title. Niko Kovac's men have been on fire in recent weeks, scoring 26 goals in their last six matches. All they have to do to get their hands on the trophy is keep racking up the goals.
Bayern's unlucky opponents today are Werder Bremen, who have a dismal recent record against the hosts. Nevertheless, Werder are fighting for a European spot themselves, and are the only Bundesliga side yet to be beaten in the second half of the season - can they do Dortmund a favour?
WERDER BREMEN (4-3-1-2): Jiri Pavlenka; Theodor Gebre Selassie, Milos Veljkovic, Niklas Moisander, Ludwig Augustinsson; Maximilian Eggestein, Nuri Sahin, Davy Klaassen; Kevin Mohwald; Max Kruse (c), Milot Rashica.
SUBS: Philipp Bargfrede, Marco Friedl, Stefanos Kapino, Sebastian Langkamp, Martin Harnik, Claudio Pizarro, Yuya Osako.
Bayern make two enforced changes from the starting XI that beat Dusseldorf 4-1 last week. Neuer and Hummels are both injured, so Ulreich and Boateng replace them at the back for Bayern. Werder make only the one change from their 2-1 win over Freiburg last time out as Mohwald replaces Osako with captain Kruse moving further forward. Eggestein has overcome a muscle injury to start in midfield.
It's a sunny day in Munich, and the two sides stand on the centre circle for a minute's applause. It's warmly observed.
BAYERN MUNICH (4-2-3-1): Sven Ulreich; Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, Niklas Sule, David Alaba; Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez; Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller (c), Kingsley Coman; Robert Lewandowski.
For a side that has a hoodoo over Bremen, Bayern are finding breaking down their visitors difficult. Gnabry's shot was the only real chance of note, and while Bremen haven't created much either they've looked solid. It's easy to see why they haven't lost yet this year.
Sahin was a big part of Bremen's success in that first half - he touched the ball more than any Bremen player and gained possession six times, more than anyone else. Bayern might find more joy down the flanks in the second half, as Gnabry looks bright.
The pressure in the Bundesliga title race now moves back to Dortmund, who need to win away to Freiburg tomorrow to cut the gap to Bayern back to a point. Will they be able to do it? We'll just have to see. That's all for now. Goodbye!
That Bayern win means that Bayern's winning run in the Bundesliga over Bremen runs on to 17 games, and Bayern go four points clear at the top of the table. Bremen drop a place to 8th as Leverkusen have won against Nurnberg. They still have a decent chance of grabbing a Europa League place if they pick themselves straight back up.
