79'
The pace of the game has slowed down somewhat, with Germany now enjoying the vast majority of possession but struggling to find a way through England's packed back line. The home side have defended really well this evening, and they've made life incredibly difficult for the reigning world champions.

12'
Halstenberg darts down the left flank and takes on Trippier, but he can't guide a cross past the Tottenham Hotspur defender and has to settle for a corner. The set-piece is quickly whipped towards the near post, but Loftus-Cheek is there to comfortably clear the danger.
10'
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is brought into the game for the first time and quickly tries to pick out Abraham deep down the right wing. The young striker makes a good run towards the ball, but he can't quite stop it from bouncing behind for a goal-kick.
8'
Opportunity for Leroy Sane! Phil Jones mistimes an attempted interception on the right-hand side of the England penalty area and allows Sane to get a shot away, but, luckily for the defender, the Manchester City forward's strike can only find the side-netting.
6'
Antonio Rudiger fires a good pass down the left flank and into the path of debutant Marcel Halstenberg. The wing-back quickly tries to pick out his RB Leipzig team-mate Werner with a cross towards the near post, but John Stones is there to make sure the striker can't reach the ball.
4'
Trippier makes a good run down the right wing once again and picks up the ball in a dangerous position. He then fires a quick cross into the Germany box, but it's well dealt with by the visitors' defence before it can pick out a team-mate.
2'
Early chance for England! A lofted pass is fired down the left wing and into the path of Jamie Vardy, who is left in acres of space. He cuts inside and fizzes a dangerous pass across the face of goal that narrowly misses Tammy Abraham but is picked up by Kieran Trippier. The wing-back quickly shoots, but his effort rifles into the side-netting.
1'
We're off! Germany get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Almost a costly mistake by Harry Maguire! England patiently knock the ball around deep inside their own half of the pitch before Maguire knocks a pass back to Jordan Pickford. It's underhit and causes problems for the goalkeeper, who is just about able to beat Timo Werner to the ball.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s international friendly between England and Germany at Wembley.
With just seven months to go until the World Cup gets underway, tonight’s clash represents a good chance for both sides to step up their preparations. That is particularly the case for England, who, after comfortably managing to qualify for next summer’s competition with eight wins from 10 games, will be relishing the opportunity to take on the reigning world champions on home soil.
It’s safe to say England haven’t set the world alight since Gareth Southgate took charge, despite the fact they head into this evening’s game on a four-game winning run. All of those victories were against relatively modest opponents, however, with the Three Lions’ last clash against a truly top-tier opponent coming against France back in June - a game they lost 3-2, despite Les Bleus going down to 10 men.
Like England, this international break will see Germany take part in two high-profile friendlies, with France set to visit Cologne in four days’ time. Unlike their opponents, however, they find themselves on a mammoth 19-game unbeaten run, with their last defeat coming against France in last year’s European Championships. They’ve won 16 games since then, including all 10 of their World Cup qualifiers.
Another win this evening would be Germany’s eighth in a row, something they haven’t managed to achieve since 1991. Joachim Low’s incredibly strong side will certainly head into next summer’s competition as one of the favourites to win the crown once again, and they’ll be aiming to become the first nation since Brazil in 1962 to retain the trophy.
Germany haven’t lost an away game since November 2015, and they’ve certainly managed to get the better of England in recent years. They’ve won four of the last six meetings between the two sides, with the last game at Wembley ending in a 1-0 victory for the visitors. While England may have enjoyed some success over the years, they haven’t enjoyed a win on home soil against their old rivals since 1975.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
England XI (3-4-1-2): Pickford; Jones, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Livermore, Dier, Rose; Loftus-Cheek; Abraham, Vardy.
Unsurprisingly, it’s a slightly experimental England side that Gareth Southgate has chosen to field, with Jordan Pickford, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham all being handed debut starts. There’s also a place in the starting 11 for Jamie Vardy, who has only started one international game since Euro 2016.
Joachim Low has also decided to hand a place to a debutant, with Marcel Halstenberg coming into the team after impressing with RB Leipzig. His team-mate Timo Werner has been chosen to start up front, meanwhile, while Ilkay Gundogan is back in the national side for the first time in almost exactly a year.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Germany XI (3-4-2-1): Ter Stegen; Rudiger, Hummels, Ginter; Kimmich, Gundogan, Ozil, Halstenberg; Sane, Draxler; Werner.
HALF-TIME: ENGLAND 0-0 GERMANY
Gareth Southgate will be pleased with how his side have performed so far, as they head into the half-time break having enjoyed several good chances on goal. Abraham and Vardy have worked well together up front, while in the middle Loftus-Cheek has sprayed some delightful passes all over the pitch. Pickford has also impressed, with two great saves from the Everton goalkeeper helping to deny Germany a way in front.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: ENGLAND 0-0 GERMANY
England quite easily could have come away with all three points after being presented with a wonderful opportunity to score in the dying seconds, but Lingard couldn't quite hit the target and Germany were able to hold on to the draw. Gareth Southgate will be able to take plenty of positives from tonight's game, however, as his young and relatively inexperienced side put in a really good shift to match the reigning world champions all over the pitch.
England now go on to take on Brazil on Tuesday, and they'll be hoping for a similar performance to the one they pulled off tonight. As for Germany, they're next in action against France, whom they host in Cologne in four days' time. After that, it's a break for both national teams before continuing their World Cup preparations in spring 2018.
