Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the Europa League quarter-final first leg between Feyenoord and Roma.
Feyenoord come into this fixture looking for revenge after Roma beat them in the Europa Conference League final last season. The Dutch side are in fantastic form, losing just one competitive match since the end of October. They are top of the Eredivisie and have scored 21 goals in eight Europa League games this campaign, more than any other team.
Roma are also in good shape as back-to-back Serie A wins leaves them third in the league table. Jose Mourinho’s side have already knocked out RB Salzburg and Real Sociedad on their way to the quarter-final. The visitors will want to get most of the job done in the first leg to focus more on solidifying their league position.
Feyenoord (4-3-3): Justin Bijlow; Lutsharal Geertruida, Gernot Trauner, David Hancko, Quilindschy Hartman; Sebastian Szymanski, Mats Wieffer, Orkun Kokcu; Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Santiago Gimenez, Oussama Idrissi.
SUBS: Ofir Marciano, Timon Wellenreuther, Marcus Pedersen, Jacob Rasmussen, Danilo, Javalro Dilrosun, Igor Paixao, Marcos Lopez, Mohamed Taabouni, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Ezequiel Bullaude, Antoni Milambo.
Roma (3-4-3): Rui Patricio; Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Roger Ibanez; Nicola Zalewski, Bryan Cristante, Nemanja Matic, Leonardo Spinazzola; Paulo Dybala, Tammy Abraham, Lorenzo Pellegrini.
SUBS: Pietro Boer, Mile Svilar, Andrea Belotti, Diego Llorente, Zeki Celik, Mady Camara, Marash Kumbulla, Georginio Wijnaldum, Edoardo Bove, Cristian Volpato, Benjamin Tahirovic, Stephan El Shaarawy.
The players are making their way out of the tunnel and onto the pitch!
Mourinho would have loved to go into the break with a lead as it would have put more pressure on Feyenoord to score before the second leg, but he will be content with the current scoreline. Slot was unhappy going into half-time and will probably demand more bravery on the ball from his side.
That's all for today, goodbye!
Feyenoord will be happy to take a 1-0 lead into the second leg next week and continue their impressive home record. Mourinho's main concern will be the severity of Dybala and Abraham's injuries, but he will be confident his side can overturn the scoreline at home. Feyenoord face Cambuur in Eredivisie before the second leg while Roma host Udinese in Serie A.
