With several players absent, new arrivals have the chance to press their claim for a potential place in upcoming squads.
Switzerland are also gearing up their options for the challenges ahead at the World Cup and the Nations League. The Swiss will have watched Italy crash out of the World Cup qualifying at the hands of North Macedonia, and will have been pleased to have finished ahead of the Azzurri in the group stage.
