Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of this Coupe de France semi-final tie between Saint-Etienne and Rennes!
Rennes travel to Stade Geoffroy Guichard following a more positive sequence of results which includes back-to-back wins over Nimes and Toulouse in their last two Ligue 1 matches. The Brittany outfit have climbed to third in Ligue 1 following these successes, but they are still eight points adrift of second-placed Marseille. Rennes have beaten the likes of Angers and Amiens to reach this stage of the Coupe de France, while they recorded a routine 3-0 win over Belfort in the competition’s quarter-final.
SUBS: Assane Diousse, Maxence Rivera, Ryad Boudebouz, Miguel Trauco, Charles Abi, Yvann Macon, Stefan Bajic.
SUBS: Yann Gboho, Adrien Hunou, James Lea Siliki, Jeremy Gelin, Romain Salin, Flavien Tait, Sacha Boey.
RENNES (4-4-2): Edouard Mendy; Hamari Traore, Damien Da Silva, Joris Gnagnon, Faitout Maouassa; Raphinha, Steven Nzonzi, Eduardo Carnavinga, Benjamin Bourigeaud; Romain Del Castillo, M’Baye Niang.
The players are now emerging from the tunnel as kick-off draws closer.
The players are now back on the pitch ahead of the second half.
The fact Saint-Etienne have progressed to the semi-final of the Coupe de France may appear surprising given they are languishing at 16th in Ligue 1, but Les Verts have achieved some impressive results in this competition so far. Claude Puel’s side defeated Monaco on their way to reaching the last four, while they saw off fourth-tier side Epinal in the quarter-final to reach this stage. However, Saint-Etienne enter today’s clash in a poor run of form after losing four of their last five league matches.
Saint-Etienne will now have their sights set on a clash with PSG in the Coupe de France final following their semi-final success, but they must first turn their attention to an important Ligue 1 clash against Bordeaux this weekend. Meanwhile, Rennes will now be focusing solely on the league and they must dust themselves down ahead of their meeting with Montpellier on Sunday.
That's all for now. Thank you for following live coverage of this Coupe de France semi-final tie!
