Benzema gets the game underway for Madrid!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the LaLiga meeting between Real Madrid and Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu!
Madrid are guaranteed to finish third in LaLiga this season. Since Zinedine Zidane's return to the club in March, they've only won half of their games (five from 10), all of which have come at home. Betis could still finish in the top half of the table if they win today, but they come into this match having won just one of their previous six games (D1 L4), although that did come in their last outing when they beat Huesca.
REAL MADRID STARTING XI (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Daniel Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Marcelo; Luka Modric, Marcos Llorente, Federico Valverde; Brahim Diaz, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior.
REAL MADRID SUBS: Thibaut Courtois, Toni Kroos, Sergio Reguilon, Marco Asensio, Isco, Lucas Vazquez, Gareth Bale.
REAL BETIS STARTING XI (3-1-4-2): Pau Lopez; Aissa Mandi, Marc Bartra, Zouhair Feddal; William Carvalho; Francis, Wilfrid Kaptoum, Andres Guardado, Junior Firpo; Giovani Lo Celso, Loren Moron.
REAL BETIS SUBS: Joel Robles, Emerson, Sergio Leon, Cristian Tello, Sidnei, Jese, Diego Lainez.
The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away.
Setien will be happy with how his side played in the first half and will be hoping that they can carry on in the same way after the break. The only moment of concern will be the mistake by Francis before Benzema's shot, but otherwise, his team have been solid at the back and created some good chances to take the lead. As for Madrid, Zidane will want to see a bit more pace when his side move forward as they haven't created a lot of clear cut opportunities. If they can find a way to get Vinicius and Modric involved more, as they've looked dangerous with the ball, then they have a good chance of getting onto the scoresheet.
So, having already guaranteed third place in LaLiga, Zidane suffers his first home defeat in his second spell in charge of Madrid and his team were booed off at the end of the match. The win for Betis sees them finish in the top half of the table as well as recording consecutive victories after a dip in form at the end of April.
