80'
Miguel de la Fuente enters the game and replaces Óscar Plano.
Plano’s match is done with 10 minutes left as De La Fuente is given the opportunity to see out the match.
78'
The game is getting stretched as Valladolid begin to overcommit men forward. Atletico are now in their favoured position, allowing the opponents to come onto them – soaking up pressure and hitting with pace. The introduction of Correa has been a fantastic decision, as his speed and sharpness has contributed to many second-half attacks for Simeone’s side.
74'
Valladolid are on the attack, with all 10 outfield players into Atletico’s half. The pass into the penalty area for Guardiola is read brilliantly by Savic, who looks up and sends a pass forward in hopes that Griezmann can catch the visitors on the counter.

Griezmann takes Atletico’s seventh corner but it ultimately ends wide as Rodrigo’s strike goes wayward after the initial delivery is immediately cast out of the penalty area.

Description
68'
There seems to be some argument that there is a foul in the build-up, as there seemed to be a push in the back of Joaquin Fernandez prior to the own goal. V.A.R has a quick check but it upholds the goal – leaving Valladolid with 22 minutes to scrape something from the match.
66'
Joaquín Fernández is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
JOAQUIN FERNANDEZ’S OWN GOAL GIVES ATLETICO THE ADVANTAGE! It’s cruel on the Valladolid centre-back who gifts the hosts a 1-0 lead, after Saul’s cross – intended for Griezmann at the near post – is met by the head of Joaquin Fernandez who turns it into his own net!
65'
Plano delivers a great ball to the far post where Guardiola has the better of Arias, but the header connects with the top of the striker’s head, sending it over Oblak’s crossbar.
63'
Toni Villa enters the game and replaces Waldo Rubio.
Valladolid’s first substitution comes just after the hour mark, as Rubio is replaced by Toni Villa in a straight swap on the left.
60'
Morata forces his way onto the end of a cross from the left just outside the six-yard area, but the referee blows for a foul as Mario Melero Lopez deems that the Atleti forward fouled Joaquin Fernandez in the build up.
58'
Correa weaves into the penalty area with fast footwork and looks to centre a pass for Griezmann inside the six-yard box, but Calero’s positioning is spectacular as he clears it away - right in front of Masip.
57'
Godin is down clutching his face after the forearm of Unal strikes the Uruguay international in the face. Despite protestations from the Atleti players who surround the referee, a booking will not be forthcoming.
56'
Á. Correa enters the game and replaces Filipe Luís.
Simeone’s second change is a signal of intent – as Correa enters the match for Filipe Luis. It’s certainly an attacking change as the left-back is replaced by a forward. How will the Valladolid defence handle the switch in system?
52'
Plano looks to open up some space with Rodrigo ahead of him, playing an incisive pass which rolls by the Atletico midfielder in search of Guardiola. The striker is a step behind though, which allows Arias to intercept.
50'
SAUL GOES WIDE FROM DISTANCE! Griezmann lays it off for Saul outside the penalty area, but Valladolid’s defenders are slow to close down the Atletico midfielder. He takes a touch to set himself up before sending a powerful shot towards Masip’s goal – missing the target by a narrow margin from some way out.
48'
Valladolid press high through Rubio on the left, who almost wins the ball from Arias inside Atleti’s half. The touch is heavy though, allowing the Colombia international to restart play with a throw-in.
46'
Rodri enters the game and replaces T. Partey.
Atletico Madrid get the second half underway from the kick-off!
Simeone makes a half-time substitution, as he chooses to replace Thomas with Rodrigo in the middle of the pitch.
45'
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 REAL VALLADOLID.
43'
Guardiola is, for what seems like the millionth time, brought down by Saul as the Valladolid striker looks to break off on a counter-attack. He looks in some pain after taking tactical fouls all match, though his endeavour must be applauded.
41'
Plano leaves it for Michel, whose wayward and confused cross drifts far wide of Oblak’s right-hand post. It’s a wasted opportunity as we approach the conclusion of the first half.
40'
Another foul leaves Guardiola on the ground as Saul attempts to win the ball from behind – taking the man first. It’s just inside the Atleti half, but Plano looks to be sending it in the penalty area.
38'
T. Partey gets yellow.
A dangerous sliding tackle in midfield leaves Guardiola on the ground in a heap, and Thomas in the referee’s notebook as he’s shown a yellow card as well.
36'
Griezmann stands over this free-kick as well, opting to cross it instead of shooting from distance once again. The delivery is flat and unimpressive as the first man heads it away immediately.
35'
Rubén Alcaraz gets yellow.
Alcaraz is shown the third booking in 35 minutes as his lunge catches the sprinting Lemar – causing him to topple over, about 40 yards from goal.
32'
A short free-kick, taken quickly from just inside Atletico’s half is then chipped towards the penalty spot for one of four team-mates in the vicinity. Oblak rises highest to make the claim ahead of his opponents as he makes the comfortable grab.
30'
With 30 minutes in the match gone, Atletico have dominated the match from a possession standpoint, but with more shots on goal, Valladolid have attacked with pace – allowing their rigid defence to give way to rapid counter-attacks. It’s a tight affair that could prove a great point for the visitors in their fight to stave off relegation.
28'
Guardiola has another shot at goal after a wonderful lofted pass from midfield. The half-volley is from a tight angle as Godin is in the perfect position to force the striker wide, but it’s still on-target and brings a good save out of Oblak.
26'
Lemar and Koke work a short-corner routine which allows the latter to cross from a different angle – his cross finding the chest of Filipe Luis perfectly. The left-back is unable to control it to his liking, and he is ultimately unable to get his shot off – a credit to Valladolid’s eagerness to close down the man in possession.
24'
Thomas wins a free-kick inside his own penalty area, using his experience to allow the youthful Unal to nip at his heels – going down when he felt enough pressure to after shielding the ball.
22'
Arias floats a cross into the penalty area from the right-hand side of the 18-yard box, but Saul and Morata go up for the same cross – getting in each others’ way and wasting a great opportunity. The team-mates share words with each other after the chance, it seems Saul is furious that Morata didn’t allow the midfielder to shoot.
18'
Quick passing between Griezmann and Koke gets the latter through towards the byline, where his cross is met by Griezmann – though it isn’t as accurate as he would have hoped. The play stays in Valladolid’s half as Koke wins a free-kick on the right wing, in perfect position for a cross.
16'
Lemar’s corner fails to beat the first man but the upwards defensive header keeps the ball in the penalty area where it is kept in the air by a number of headers. Play is called to a halt as Moyano and Godin clash heads leaving both momentarily on the floor – though they are both good to continue. Real Valladolid are given a free-kick to restart play.
12'
A chip into the penalty area is met with a cushioned header by Griezmann, who sets Saul up for an 18-yard half-volley, but the midfielder gets his timing wrong as the chance passes without any danger to Masip’s goal.
10'
Atletico Madrid have a spell around the Valladolid’s penalty area but a blocked shot leads to an overzealous Filipe Luis charging in to claim the bouncing ball – and a foul on Alcaraz which leads to a free-kick for the visitors.
7'
Lemar sprints into space with the ball to spark an Atletico attack before distributing to Morata on the left-wing. The striker’s cross into the penalty are is wasteful as none of his team-mates are lurking, allowing Calero to touch it back to Masip for a big clearance.
5'
D. Godín gets yellow.
Two yellow cards in the first five minutes – one for each side as Godin is booked for going in with a high-footed challenge on Alcaraz in Valladolid’s half.
3'
Plano leads Valladolid on a 3v2 counter-attack, but his pass into the middle of the penalty area for Guardiola is covered well by Godin and the danger is cleared by Arias. Early signs of positivity for the visitors, but their finishing will have to be much sharper.
1'
Javi Moyano gets yellow.
It’s an early yellow card for Moyano after tugging Lemar down from behind.
Real Valladolid get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE LaLiga commentary of the fixture between Atletico Madrid and Real Valladolid!
Barcelona may have one hand on the LaLiga title, but Atletico Madrid have the chance to ensure that the champagne sits on ice for at least a couple more hours with a win against Real Valladolid - at least until Barcelona face Levante later on today. A loss for Atletico Madrid would ensure the Catalan club’s 26th domestic league championship; their eighth in 11 years, before the Blaugrana even take to the pitch. A win for Diego Simeone's side would force Barca to win their match in order to celebrate today.
With a number of attacking options to choose from on his bench, Simeone could really press for a home win in the second half and utilise any of Correa, Vitolo, Rodrigo or Kalinic – all of whom can add to Atleti’s attacking incision and calm in front of goal. It seemed Morata looked slightly tentative in the first half, which could be remedied by a switch. It should also be at the forefront of both Sergio and Simeone’s minds that with a combined four yellows and 17 fouls conceded, it is a distinct possibility that at least one of these sides could finish with less than XI on the pitch.
REAL VALLADOLID SUBS: Moctar Sidi El Hacen, Antonito, Borja Fernandez, Miguel De la Fuente, Yoel Rodriguez, Toni Villa, Mohammed Salisu.
Four wins in their last five matches has seen Atletico overturn a run of form which saw them eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Juventus, which was followed by a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.
Real Valladolid are still in a fight for their LaLiga lives, as three points separate 15th place Levante and 18th placed Girona. With only one relegation spot left to be claimed, and Valladolid a sole point ahead of Girona, they will need all the points they can amass.
Sergio Gonzalez will have a tough test ahead of him as Atletico boast Spain’s best defence; issues which have been exacerbated by injuries to strikers Daniele Verde and Duje Cop. Valladolid – as it is – own the unenviable record of lowest scorers in LaLiga, though they have managed five points and five goals in their last three matches.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, the team news has been confirmed! Let's start with the hosts.
REAL VALLADOLID XI (4-4-2): Jordi Masip; Javi Moyano, Joaquin Fernandez, Fernando Calero, Nacho; Oscar Plano, Michel, Ruben Alcaraz, Waldo Rubio; Enes Unal, Sergi Guardiola.
ATLETICO MADRID SUBS: Francisco Montero, Juanfran, Angel Correa, Vitolo, Rodrigo, Antonio Adan, Nikola Kalinic.
ATLETICO MADRID XI (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Filipe Luis, Stefan Savic, Diego Godin, Santiago Arias; Thomas Lemar, Thomas Partey, Saul Niguez, Koke; Antoine Griezmann, Alvaro Morata.
That concludes our commentary of the LaLiga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Real Valladolid! We hope you enjoyed it!
