Schalke, on the other hand, have won on only two occasions in their last eight league fixtures and come into this clash currently sat in 12th place.
The teams are out and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Allianz Arena.
Bayern come into this clash looking for a response following their 3-1 loss against Bayer Leverkusen in their previous league fixture. The home side also needed extra-time to see off Hertha Berlin during the week in their DFB-Pokal clash. Schalke, meanwhile, will be seeking to bounce back having failed to win their last two Bundesliga matches. The away side fell to a two-goal defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach last time out.
Bayern have caused Schalke numerous problems in the opening half with Rodriguez being at the heart of everything. The visitors have struggled to get anywhere near the Bayern midfielder who has effortlessly pulled the strings. The hosts will look to get the ball to him at every opportunity in the second half. Schalke, on the other hand, will need to get tighter to the Colombian. Konoplyanka, meanwhile, has looked the biggest threat for the away side and he will be crucial in their efforts to draw level.
After an incredibly entertaining contest, Bayern deservedly come away with all three points. Bruma’s own goal after 11 minutes ensured that the hosts got off to a good start, but the sides were soon level when Kutucu fired Schalke level 14 minutes later. Two minutes after Schalke’s equalising goal, Bayern took the lead once more when Lewandowski found the top corner of the net from the centre of the box. Bayern sealed the points after 57 minutes when Lewandowski’s audacious effort was steered home by Gnabry.
That brings an end to our coverage of the Bundesliga fixture between Bayern Munich and Schalke at Allianz Arena. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Bayern travel to Augsburg in their next league fixture. Schalke, meanwhile, host Freiburg next time out as they look for a response following back-to-back Bundesliga defeats.
