SUBSTITUTES: Willy Caballero, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Willian, Olivier Giroud.
The players are out and kick-off is drawing near.
Despite being well clear of the relegation zone, 13th-placed Bournemouth are currently on a run which has seen them win only once in their previous six games in all competitions - including a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton which knocked them out of the FA Cup. Their lack of domestic cup involvement this past weekend has left Eddie Howe’s men with 10 days to prepare for their opponents' visit, but their last match did see a victory against West Ham that stopped a dreadful sequence of four league losses in a row.
With Arsenal and Manchester United hot on their heels, fourth-placed Chelsea will treat this fixture as another must-win match to remain in contention for those coveted Champions League spots. Maurizio Sarri’s Blues should be confident of emerging from the Vitality Stadium with another victory though, having achieved a perfect record in each of their three league visits there so far.
Despite an opening 30 minutes that saw a good chunk of the action camped in their own half, Bournemouth still proved themselves to be a danger on the counter - particularly with King and Brooks using their pace and guile to give their visitors something to think about during the interval.
Chelsea have had nearly 70% possession, but aside from Kovacic’s seventh-minute header which rattled the crossbar, they haven’t had any clear chances at Boruc’s goal. Debutant Higuain has been effectively marshalled by Cook and Ake, but the ever-dangerous Hazard has been his usual electric self before the break. More inventiveness is needed from Sarri's men in order for them to unlock the hosts' so far solid defence.
And that wraps up our coverage. We hope you enjoyed our commentary, and until next time, goodbye!
Both sides return to Premier League action on Saturday, as Bournemouth travel to Wales to face Cardiff City while Chelsea head back to the capital to welcome Huddersfield Town to Stamford Bridge.
