Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Stuttgart at Allianz Arena.
It's Bayern's first home league game of 2019, and Niko Kovac's men are finally picking up speed as they look to catch table-toppers Borussia Dortmund who are cruising nine points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. Bayern resumed their campaign with a 3-1 win away to Hoffenheim last week, making that six league wins in a row. A win today would cut the gap at the top to six points. Dortmund can't rest on their laurels just yet.
Bayern will be grateful to be facing relegation-threatened Stuttgart today. The visitors are enduring their worst ever start to a Bundesliga campaign with just 14 points and a goal difference of -24, and have lost to Bayern in 17 of their last 18 competitive meetings. Markus Weinzierl will be hoping his team can get out of this game in one piece.

Bayern's first home game of the New Year isn't going all their way after all. The home side took an early lead via Thiago but Stuttgart grew into the game and grabbed a stunning equaliser via Donis. Bayern still look the stronger side, but Stuttgart might just spring an upset here.
That's all for now. Goodbye!
Bayern continue their great New Year record at home, then, and can look forward to their trip to Leverkusen next week. Stuttgart stay in 16th for now, in the relegation zone by a point, but they'll know their home game to Freiburg next Sunday will ultimately be more important if they want to stay in the division.
