Almost a second for United, but Doucoure got back to ensure nobody could tuck home following Rashford's deflected effort.
90' +1
L. Shaw gets yellow.
There will be a minimum of three minutes added on.
Another booking for United, this time for Shaw.
87'
There will be another stoppage now, as McTominay receives some treatment for what could be a knock to his head.
85'
P. Pogba enters the game and replaces M. Carrick.
A huge round of applause rings around Old Trafford now, as Michael Carrick makes way to a standing ovation. It’s the end of a glittering career for the former England midfielder, as he is replaced by Paul Pogba.
84'
Richarlison wins a header at the back post, but can’t generate enough power on it to trouble Romero.
82'
United have done very little in this game, and their fans will not be pleased with a performance like this ahead of such a huge game next week. Watford have not been at their best but, should and eqailoslr arrive, it would be deserved.
80'
Great defending from Rojo, who ruses over on the cover to dive in at the vital moment, preventing Richardson getting a shot away after he had raced clear down the left.
77'
Ander Herrera enters the game and replaces D. Blind.
A change now for United. Daley Blind is making way, with Ander Herrera coming on. The former Athletic Bilbao man will sit in midfield.
74'
Janmaat does well to stretch to a pass and hook a cross into the area, with Hughes managing to flick the ball back out towards Doucoure, who is quickly closed down on the edge of United’s box.
72'
N. Chalobah enters the game and replaces A. Gray.
Here’s a third and final change from the visitors. Andre Grey has put a lot of effort in up top, but has lacked the quality to make a real impact, and he will be replaced by Nathaniel Chalobah, whose season has been derailed by injury.
Minute
Description
70'
United get lucky! Rojo conceded possession straight to Hughes, who in turn nudged the ball onto Gray. The striker took the ball around Romero, only to put his effort into the side-netting. It would not have counted anyway, however, with the linesman having already flagged for offside.
68'
S. McTominay gets yellow.
Another booking for the hosts - this time for McTominay, who pulled back Richarlison as the winger looked to break forward.
66'
CLOSE! Sanchez finally shows some of his quality with a clever turn in the area, before floating a delicate cross towards the back post. Mata made a run to meet it, but couldn’t quite get there before the ball sailed over the line.
63'
T. Deeney enters the game and replaces Deulofeu.
Watford are following that up with a change of their own. Gerard Deulofeu, who has managed to threaten at times, goes off, with Troy Deeney coming on.
62'
That change would also suggest a switch in system for United, with Shaw likely to slot in at left wing-back, and Blind move into the centre to form a three-man defence.
60'
L. Shaw enters the game and replaces A. Young.
A first substitution from Mourinho, as Ashley Young - having just picked up that booking - makes way for Luke Shaw.
59'
Pereyra swings in a cross from the resulting free-kick, but Rashford manages to scramble it clear after Darmian’s poor header.
58'
A. Young gets yellow.
A second booking of the game now for United, as Young goes into the book for a foul on Janmaat.
55'
Much like in the first half, this game has very little rhythm or flow to it. United are relatively comfortable, though, with Watford lacking the quality to cause too much trouble going forward.
53'
That’s poor from Deulofeu. The winger had squared Rojo up, but just as he looked set to get past the defender and drill in a cross, he takes a sloppy touch, enabling Rojo to lunge in and win the ball.
50'
Sanchez has had a hand in six goals in his four Premier League games against Watford, scoring three goals and claiming three assists, but the Chilean has been incredibly quiet so far this afternoon, playing in a central role behind Rashford.
48'
Deulofeu causes havoc with a whipped, curling cross that Pereyra looks to latch onto at the back post. He can’t quite get there, though, and after a bit of pinball in the area, the ball trickles out for a goal kick.
46'
We are back up and running at Old Trafford. No changes for either side at the interval.
45' +1
There will be a minimum of two minutes added on at the end of the first half.
45'
CHANCE! Another important stop from Romero as, from the resulting corner, Deulofeu picks up the scraps in the penalty area and thumps a powerful strike on target. United’s goalkeeper had judged it well, though, and made a fine save.
44'
What a save by Romero! That should have been the equaliser for Watford, as Richarlison lost his marker to meet a cross from the right. The Brazilian leapt high and powered a header down towards the right-hand corner, but Romero reacted brilliantly to tip it wide.
41'
That goal seems to have stifled Watford, who are now failing to capitalise on any sloppiness in United’s play as they were earlier in the half.
37'
Another injury concern for the visitors, with Janmaat having to receive treatment for a knock. He is still down on the sidelines, so Watford are temporarily down to 10 men.
34'
M. Rashford has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Mata.
GOAL! Out of nowhere, United take the lead! Carrick, on his final appearance, is the architect with a sublime pass into the path of Mata, who had made a great run. The Spaniard took it down expertly, advancing on goal before squaring it to Rashford for a simple finish.
Mata’s run was superb, but the credit must go to Carrick, who sent a pinpoint 40 yard pass over the top of Watford’s defence, Mata and Rashford making no mistake to finally spark this game into life.
33'
A mistake from Rojo nearly allows Gray to capitalise, but Bailly gets across to ensure the former Burnley striker can’t get a shot away.
31'
Rahsford’s corner is dealt with initially, but Rojo is on hand to meet the rebound. The Argentine connects with his volley, but Gomes is able to watch it pass safely wide.
30'
United’s passing has been abysmal so far, with Hughes and Pereyra often picking up loose balls from either Carrick or McTominay. However a bit of quality finally sets Rashford free, and he does well to force a corner.
25'
That being said, United should be looking to prove their quality today and build up some momentum ahead of the FA Cup final. But their play has been far too slow and lethargic so far.
23'
This game has had no rhythm or flow to it so far, and that lengthy stoppage won’t have helped. A real end-of-season feel to this one, and given it is indeed the final day of the campaign and both these sides have little to play for, that is perhaps no surprise.
21'
A. Mariappa enters the game and replaces C. Kabasele.
Adrian Mariappa will take the place of the injured Christian Kabasele.
19'
Having initially tried to carry on, it doesn't look like Kabasele will be able to continue, and Watford are preparing a change.
17'
There looks set to be a pause in the play now, after Kabasele takes a tumble into the advertising boards following a tussle with Sanchez.
14'
This is the 500th Premier League game at Old Trafford – the ground has seen more goals than any other in the competition (1406). However, there has been no real goalmouth action to speak of as of yet!
12'
Rashford does well to engineer half a yard for himself on the edge of Watford’s box, but the England striker sends his strike into the stands.
11'
United are yet to get out of first gear, and Watford are looking dangerous when they press the hosts’ defence. Mourinho’s side must push up the field and get the likes of Mata, Sanchez and Rashford more involved in the play.
9'
M. Rojo gets yellow.
Rojo commits a foul around 30 yards out, picking up a booking. Richarlison tried his luck from the resulting free-kick, but only managed to slice his effort high over the bar.
7'
It has been a scrappy start to proceedings at Old Trafford, with United unable to get on the ball and set any tempo to their play as of yet, while Watford are pressing high up the pitch and presenting a threat on the counter.
5'
Almost a costly mistake there by Romero, who fumbles a cross from the right. Moments later, United concede possession straight to Hughes, who charges at the box, but Bailly is on hand to block the youngster’s path to goal.
1'
KICK OFF! For the final time this season, United get proceedings up and running at a sunny Old Trafford.
Hello and welcome, football fans, to live coverage of the final day of the Premier League season! Stick right here as we bring you all the action from Manchester United’s clash with Watford!
It has been a difficult season at times for United, but Jose Mourinho has nevertheless secured a second-placed finish. The Red Devils also have an FA Cup final clash with Chelsea to look forward to, and will be hoping to cap off their home campaign in style against the Hornets today.
For Watford, this game brings to an end a season that at first promised so much. The Hornets were flying under Marco Silva, only for interest from Everton to seemingly unsettle the Portuguese. He was ultimately replaced by Javi Gracia, who despite a strong start to life at Vicarage Road, has failed to inspire much more than a mid-table finish.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Sergio Romero; Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind; Michael Carrick, Scott McTominay; Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Ashley Young; Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United substitutes: Phil Jones, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingered, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Joel Pereira.
It's very much a second string side for United, with Mourinho resting a few of his key players ahead of the FA Cup final, while Romelu Lukaku remains sidelined through injury. Carrick is making his final appearance for the Red Devils, having announced earlier in the season that he will call time on his long career at the end of the campaign.
Watford (4-1-4-1): Heurelho Gomes; Daryl Janmaat, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele, Jose Holebas; Abdoulaye Doucoure; Gerard Deulofeu, Roberto Pereyra, Will Hughes, Richarlison; Andre Gray.
Watford substitutes: Sebastian Prodl, Adrian Mariappa, Troy Deeney, Nathaniel Chalobah, Jerome Sinclair, Dodi Lukebakio, Daniel Bachmann.
That’s it for the first half, with Rashford’s goal proving the difference so far, although neither side have played well - Carrick’s wonderful pass for United’s goal the one moment of quality so far.
HALF-TIME: Manchester United 1 Watford 0.
Watford did press for an equaliser in the closing stages of the half, but Romero pulled of two fine stops to deny both Richarlison and Deulofeu respectively.
That’s all for now. Goodbye!
It was a far from convincing display from the hosts, who will need to be far better if they are to stand a chance against Chelsea in the FA Cup final, but despite the underwhelming performance, Mourinho’s men secured the points, while Watford will finish the season in 14th place.
It’s all over at Old Trafford, where Marcus Rashford’s goal midway through the first half has secured a 1-0 victory for Manchester United over Watford, ensuring that Jose Mourinho’s side end the season in winning fashion.
