Minute
Description
73'
There is life in attack for Dortmund after all! Gotze does well on the wing to fire a cross towards the centre of the box, but Yarmolenko's free header is straight at Gikiewicz.
71'
Just under 20 minutes left as Dortmund continue to probe this well organised and well disciplined Frieburg defence in search of an equaliser.
68'
N. Petersen has scored a goal for Freiburg!
GOAL! Unbelievable! Sahin's pass towards a defender is intercepted by Nils Petersen and the striker hits it first time from around 40 yards out, looping over the hands of Burki and into the far left corner. Brilliant strike by Petersen and Freiburg take the lead against the run of play.
67'
A. Yarmolenko enters the game and replaces C. Pulišić.
Christian Pulisic is replaced by Andriy Yarmolenko.
65'
Dortmund still in total control in terms of possession but their chances are very few and far between.
62'
Freiburg with a rare forward charge but they are unable to find the final pass. It hasn't been the most entertaining half of football so far.
60'
Kagawa with space inside the box but his left-footed effort is rifled into the side-netting.
58'
A really good run down the right wing from Sokratis but he trips as he reaches the byline. Dortmund simply cannot find a way through at the moment, Freiburg are defending very well.
55'
Dortmund are really struggling to find any way beyond this packed Freiburg defence. Jeremy Toljan has the ball on the left wing but his curling shot is high over the crossbar.
52'
Freiburg continue to defend as resolutely as they did in the first half as Dortmund continue to control possession.
49'
Freiburg try to get forward on the counter attack but Sokratis is on hand to prevent Petersen getting through on goal.
46'
M. Götze enters the game and replaces G. Castro.
Gonzalo Castro is replaced by Mario Götze at half-time.
We are back underway!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0-0 FREIBURG.
45'
Dortmund come forward with intent again but the delivery is once again poor.
42'
Castro slips a through ball into the path of Aubameyang but it is just too close to Marc-Oliver Kempf, who can clear the ball into the legs of the Dortmund forward and win his side a goal kick.
39'
Close! Kubler has space on the right of the box to fire a low effort towards the near post. Roman Burki dives low to save, but the ball squeezes between his arms and comes dangerously close to trickling over the line, but the Dortmund goalkeeper reacts quickly to prevent it.
38'
Dortmund find a brief way through the Freiburg defence but Pulisic's low cross is just behind Aubameyang, who can only try and cross the ball back into the box.
35'
Freiburg with a corner on the left but the flick on at the front post is blocked by Sahin. They get a second attempt for the delivery but it is well over hit, going out for a goal kick.
32'
Chance! Castro swings in an inviting cross towards the centre of the box and Aubameyang rises high to meet it, but he can only head it onto the roof of the net. Better from the home side though.
31'
Sancho again picks up the ball on the left for Dortmund but this time his chipped cross towards the far post is poor, bouncing straight out of play for a goal kick.
29'
Besides the two goals the game has lacked any real action in the final third for either side. Dortmund continue to dominate possession and Freiburg continue to fend them off.
26'
G. Castro gets yellow.
Gonzalo Castro is booked for bringing down Petersen near the halfway line.
24'
Sancho has been Dortmund's biggest influence in the final third so far and he causes problems on that left wing once again, but this time his chipped cross towards the back post is well cleared by a Frieburg defender.
21'
N. Petersen has scored a goal for Freiburg! Assist by J. Haberer.
GOAL! Freiburg equalise with their first real attack of the game. Janik Haberer races to the byline and fires the ball towards the front post, where Nils Petersen is there ahead of his marker to fire the ball into the roof of the net. Game on!
Janik Haberer does well to get to the byline and pull the ball back for Petersen to equalise.
17'
Dortmund continue to dominate possession and are beginning to look a little more threatening going forward. This could be a long afternoon for Freiburg if this keeps up.
14'
Good effort! Sancho drives his way towards the left of the Frieburg box but has no teammates available to pick a final pass. The winger opts to turn inside and curl an effort towards the far corner but it lacks the power to beat Gikiewicz, who dives to punch it clear.
12'
Freiburg are immediately pushing forward to search for an equaliser but the attack comes to nothing. That goal has opened up the game a little bit now.
9'
S. Kagawa has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund!
GOAL! Chaos in the Frieburg box as shot after shot is blocked. The ball eventually deflects kindly into the path of Shinji Kagawa and the Japanese international has plenty of time and space to acrobatically fire the loose ball into the bottom left corner.
7'
Dortmund get a free-kick on the right wing but Jadon Sancho's delivery doesn't beat the first man. They retain possession though.
5'
All the play is for the home side at the moment but Freiburg are well organised and not allowing any space for Dortmund to get through.
2'
First real signs of threat from Dortmund in these opening stages. Christian Pulisic works his way to the byline on the right wing and chips in a deep cross, which is cleared at the back post with a Dortmund player lurking for the tap in.
1'
We're underway! Dortmund kick off, going right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Sport-Club Freiburg at the Signal Iduna Park.
Borussia Dortmund have yet to taste victory this calendar year following back to back draws against Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg; a run of form they will be determined to put right after slipping to seventh in the table, albeit only three points adrift of second-placed Eintracht.
Freiburg got a good result last weekend when they came from behind to beat RB Leipzig 2-1, ending a run of three games without a win. Christian Streich’s side are 12th in the Bundesliga at the moment but nine points between themselves and the relegation places means they have the luxury of looking up rather than down in the table.
The visitors have a number of absentees coming into this tie, with goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow the latest to pick up an injury after he was substituted against Leipzig. He will join defender Philipp Lienhart, winger Yoric Ravet, midfielders Mike Frantz and Nicolas Hofler and forward Florian Niederlechner on the side lines.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Dortmund make three changes to the side that drew with Hertha Berlin last weekend, with Aubameyang returning to lead the line in place of Andre Schurrle. Gonzalo Castro and Nuri Sahin replace Julian Weigl and Mario Gotze in midfield respectively.
Freiburg make only two changes to the side that beat RB Leipzig last weekend, with Rafal Gikiewicz replacing the injured Schwolow in goal. Lukas Kubler comes in to take his place on the right of midfield, replacing Pascal Stenzel.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
The black and yellows face an opposition today they have beaten 12 times in their previous thirteen meetings. Manager Peter Stoger will have forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang available again after he missed the previous two fixtures for disciplinary reasons, but defenders Marcel Schmelzer, Raphael Guerreiro, Erik Durm and wingers Maximilian Philipp and Marco Reus remain out through injury.
A tame first half in truth as neither side offered too much going forward. Kagawa took advantage of a deflected cross to fire Dortmund into the lead, but Freiburg equalised just over 10 minutes later as Petersen took advantage of defensive uncertainty to fire in at the near post. Freiburg nearly took the lead with their second shot of the game but Roman Burki reacted quickly to his mistake to prevent the ball rolling over the line.
The players are back out on the pitch, ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 2-2 FREIBURG.
Freiburg will consider themselves very unfortunate to not walk away with all three points this afternoon after coming a minute away from a famous victory against Dortmund. Nils Petersen's fantastic long range strike after intercepting Sahin's pass gave the away side the lead but Jeremy Toljan was waiting on the edge of the box for Dortmund in the final minute of the game to fire in from Manuel Gulde's clearance. Dortmund's wait for a win in 2018 continues.
