90' +3
M. Sissoko enters the game and replaces K. Coman.
Deschamps makes his final change with Moussa Sissoko replacing Coman for the dying seconds.
90' +1
We are into the first of three added minutes at the end of this game. France have the ball and each pass is being cheered by the home crowd.
90'
Time is running out for the Irish. They are trying to make something happen, but to no avail so far and France are minutes away from the Quarter-Finals...
88'
France look to hit Ireland on the counter with Payet leading the charge, but he eventually drills his shot straight at Randolph.
86'
GIGNAC SHOULD SCORE! The Irish marking is non-existent as the striker drifts to the near post and looks to guide the ball into the far corner. It goes the other side of the post, however, and there is still a chance for Ireland.
85'
Can Ireland produce one final moment of magic? It was in the last five minutes that Brady scored the winner against Italy, can they do it again?
83'
We are into the final seven minutes of this match and France are edging closer to a place in the Quarter-Finals. The hosts have shown fantastic determination to turn this game around after going behind inside two minutes.
81'
ALMOST! Payet whips the ball into the box once more and a stretching Griezmann is whiskers away from making the vital connection for what could have completed his hat-trick.
79'
France are unbeaten in their last 15 major tournament matches on home soil and it is looking increasingly likely that they will extend that run here. Les Bleus are in total control of things and are aiming to close the match out with a third goal.
Minute
Description
77'
OFF THE BAR! That would have been goodnight Ireland! Gignac takes on Keogh before aiming for the top corner, only to see his brilliant effort crash against the woodwork and bounce to safety.
74'
Giroud is given a breather by Deschamps, as he is replaced by André-Pierre Gignac.
73'
A. Gignac enters the game and replaces O. Giroud.
72'
S. Long gets yellow.
The final throw of the dice from O'Neill sees him introduce Wes Hoolahan, who set up Brady's winner against Italy on Wednesday. McCarthy is the player to make way.
Long is the next player to have his name taken by the referee and he, too, will miss the Quarter-Finals if his team can turn this deficit around.
71'
W. Hoolahan enters the game and replaces J. McCarthy.
Ireland have never won a knockout match after 90 minutes in major competition football. They will not mind that record to continue, so long as they can find an equaliser here.
69'
O'Neill makes up the numbers in defence by introducing the experience of John O'Shea into defence. McClean will make way for the veteran, who wins his 113th cap.
68'
J. O'Shea enters the game and replaces J. McClean.
Griezmann steps up to take the resulting free-kick, but only succeeds in sending his delivery straight into the head of Giroud. Nevertheless, the French are in a very strong position at the moment.
66'
S. Duffy goes off after a red card!
RED CARD FOR DUFFY! This is slowly falling apart for the Irish. Their task has just been made even harder in Lyon, as they are reduced to 10 men. Giroud and Griezmann combine once again, with the former releasing the latter clear on goal. The Atletico man is set to complete his hat-trick before being brought down by Duffy, leaving the referee no choice but to send him off.
65'
J. Walters enters the game and replaces D. Murphy.
O'Neill looks to the bench for the first time this afternoon and Jonathan Walters comes on in place of Murphy.
63'
That is a huge blow for Ireland. They now have it all to do in Lyon. Their spirit has served them well so far in Euro 2016 and the nation will be hoping that can be the case once more.
61'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for France! Assist by O. Giroud.
Giroud did really well to win the header between the two Irish centre-halves.
FRANCE TAKE THE LEAD!!! Griezmann strikes again! It is double punishment as far as the Irish are concerned. A long ball forward is well won by Giroud to set up an unmarked Griezmann, who takes a touch before drilling past Randolph.
59'
Ireland cannot afford to let their heads drop now. They have played really well so far and need to keep going.
57'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for France! Assist by B. Sagna.
Ireland need to be careful. France have got their tails up at the moment and are asking more questions of their opponents. Can the Irish weather the storm?
Sagna's cross into the box was begging to be attacked.
FRANCE HAVE EQUALISED!!! Griezmann levels the match for the hosts! It had been coming in all fairness. Another good build-up sees Sagna's cross powered home by the head of the Atletico Madrid forward. Deschamps breathes a huge sigh of relief on the bench!
55'
GOOD SAVE! Matuidi lets fly with a vicious left-footed effort from distance, but Randolph is equal to it as he scrambles across to push to safety.
54'
There is a lot more urgency in France since the restart. The words of Deschamps appear to still be ringing in the players' ears, but it will all count for nothing if they fail to find an equaliser.
52'
VITAL SAVE! Ireland counter with pace and purpose. McClean drills a dangerous ball into the area that is begging for a touch, but Lloris just about manages to push it away to safety.
50'
Coman has looked lively since coming on. His pace and will to run at players will cause problems for the Irish, who need to remain disciplined in the second half.
49'
CHANCE! Payet whips the ball into the area once again. France have a man spare at the far post, but the ball can only be directed wide of the target.
48'
Coleman needs to be very, very careful! He trips Payet, who is in full flow and bearing down on the Ireland area. The Irish skipper gets the benefit of the doubt on this occasion, but cannot afford many more of those challenges.
46'
K. Coman enters the game and replaces N. Kanté.
Deschamps has made a very attacking change at the break. Kante has been sacrificed in favour of Kingsley Coman.
KICK-OFF! The referee blows the whistle and France get the ball rolling once again.
45' +4
The referee blows the whistle and brings the first half to a close. What a performance from Ireland so far!
45' +3
We are into the last of four added minutes at the end of this first half. Can France force an equaliser before the break?
45' +1
DANGER! Hearts are in Irish mouths as France mount the pressure inside their penalty area. Payet and Griezmann have efforts well blocked, before the ball finally ends up in the grateful arms of Randolph.
44'
A. Rami gets yellow.
Rami goes into the book for bringing down Long, as the striker threatened to race away on the counter-attack. The Sevilla centre-half will also be out of the Quarter-Finals should France prevail.
42'
CHANCE! Brady whips a dangerous free-kick delivery into the box, which is met by Duffy. However, the Blackburn Rovers defender directs his header just wide of the target.
41'
J. Hendrick gets yellow.
Hendrick has his name taken by the referee and will miss the Quarter-Final if Ireland progress.
39'
The Irish have started to gain more of a foothold in proceedings over the past couple of minutes. They look dangerous going forward and need to keep asking questions of the French defence.
37'
France are slowly turning up the pressure on the Irish, who are struggling for any time on the ball at the moment. The hosts need to start putting more balls into the box, though.
35'
Payet's delivery is brilliant as always, but the hosts are penalised for a foul in the box. Meanwhile, Hendrick goes down in need of attention from the medical team. The home fans are incensed, believing that this is a mere time-wasting ploy from the Derby County player.
33'
France have a free-kick just inside the Irish half after Hendrick is rather harshly penalised by the referee for handball. He appeared to be fouled by Pogba before his alleged offence. Nevertheless, this is a good opportunity for the French...
31'
Ireland are still looking strong in this game. France are enjoying more possession, but are unable to breach the typically stubborn Irish as of yet.
29'
There is a break in play here as Long receives attention after taking a knock in a challenge with Evra. O'Neill will be hoping that this is just precautionery, as the Southampton man's tireless running has been pivotal towards Ireland's progress in this tournament.
27'
N. Kanté gets yellow.
Kanté is booked for a foul on McClean in the centre circle. The Leicester City midfielder will now be out of the Quarter-Finals if France get there.
25'
S. Coleman gets yellow.
Coleman is shown the first yellow card of the game for a rash challenge. The skipper will now need to tread very carefully.
24'
GOOD EFFORT! Hendrick brings down Pogba 35 yards from goal. The Juventus tries his luck with an ambitious effort, but Randolph is forced to scramble across to stop his delivery from nestling in the top corner.
22'
CHANCE! The French marking is non-existent at the moment and Murphy is able to get a shot away that is palmed out by Lloris. However, the skipper easily gathers Hendrick's tame follow-up cross.
20'
There is a worrying sign for the French as Pogba appears to be struggling after that Long challenge. He has just received attention from the medical team, but is still moving fairly gingerly.
18'
GOOD TAKE! Long is penalised for fouling Pogba just inside the Irish half and Payet's delivery is glanced on by Griezmann, but Randolph gathers fairly easily.
16'
Remember, this is the first meeting between the sides since that notorious night at Stade de France in 2009, when Thierry Henry's handball sent France through to the 2010 World Cup at the expense of Ireland. Revenge will be on the minds of the Irish this afternoon, especially of those who were involved that night.
14'
There was a lot of talk in the build-up to this match regarding the decision to allocate Irish fans with less than 10 per cent of tickets in the 59,000-seater Stade de Lyon. You would not know at the moment, though, as the Green Army are in fantastic voice and rightly so.
12'
VITAL TOUCH! Griezmann whips a vicious and inviting ball into the box looking for Giroud, but Duffy positions himself well before crucially getting his head to it first - glancing it behind for a corner.
10'
You feel that Ireland cannot afford to sit back too much on this lead. There is still a long, long way to go in this match and they should look to increase their advantage if possible. France have responded well to going behind.
8'
Danger for Ireland as they concede a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area - very much in Payet territory. However, his delivery is fairly tame and straight down the throat of West Ham teammate Randolph.
6'
That was only the second goal Ireland have scored against France in the last 34 years. The other was scored by Robbie Keane in the previous meeting between the sides in 2009.
4'
France try to respond immediately as they force a corner down the near side. However, Ireland deal with the set-piece on this occasion.
2'
Penalty goal scored by R. Brady for Republic of Ireland!
PENALTY TO IRELAND! Inside 75 seconds, the referee points to the spot after Long is brought down by Pogba in the box. What a chance for the Irish!...
WHAT A START!!! Wednesday's hero Brady steps up to the spot and keeps his nerve to send Lloris the wrong way. Ireland lead after just two minutes in Lyon.
1'
KICK-OFF! Italian referee Nicola Rizzoli blows his whistle and Ireland get the match underway.
Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to LIVE text commentary of Euro 2016. The knockout stages continue today and we're at Stade de Lyon as hosts France take on the Republic of Ireland for a place in the Quarter-Finals.
We should be in for a cracking contest this afternoon. The winner of this match will play either England or Iceland in the Last Eight next Sunday.
Having made five changes for the 0-0 draw with Switzerland with qualification already secured before the final match of Group A, Didier Deschamps reverts back to the French XI that started the tournament against Romania. N'Golo Kante and Blaise Matuidi return to the midfield, while Olivier Giroud leads the line supported by Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann.
They say 'if it's not broke, don't fix it' and that is clearly what Martin O'Neill is thinking, as he names the same team that started the dramatic victory over Italy on Wednesday. Match winner Robbie Brady and left-back Stephen Ward have both shaken off knocks and will be hoping for a repeat of the Irish heroics in Lille.
HERE THEY COME! The players receive a rapturous reception as they make their way onto the field. The national anthems are about to be observed...
HALF-TIME: FRANCE 0-1 IRELAND
Irish eyes are smiling once again in Lyon! They took an early lead through Robbie Brady's penalty and have looked good value for it so far. O'Neill's men need to be wary after the break, though, and cannot afford to rest on their laurels too much.
Meanwhile, it has been a very frustrating 45 minutes as far as France are concerned. The crowd have shown their displeasure and Deschamps has a big teamtalk on his hands now.
The teams are back out on the field and the second half is imminent.
FULL-TIME: FRANCE 2-1 REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Antoine Griezmann scored twice as France came from behind to book their place in the Last Eight. Ireland started brilliantly, taking the lead through Robbie Brady's second-minute penalty, but they eventually succumbed to the inspired hosts. The Irish situation was not helped by the sending-off of Shane Duffy, but they can take huge pride from their performance. Ultimately, though, it is the French who progress in their home tournament.
And that's all from Stade de Lyon. Thank you for following the LIVE action of this entertaining Last-16 match at Euro 2016, hope you've enjoyed it. Until next time, goodbye!
