Great interplay between Jimenez and Guardado almost results in the fourth goal, but Guardado's strike from the top of the box is deflected wide.
85'
Lopez looking good in his Mexico debut, whipping in a dangerous cross that is well defended by El Salvador.
78'
S. Ortiz enters the game and replaces I. Castro.
Corner taken short with Lopez, the Chivas defender, still getting involved. Wonder if Osorio would be tempted to start him and put Layun back at left back, though Honduras will be a tough opponent.
77'
Lopez seeing some of the ball and he's won a free kick. The most exciting thing of the past few minutes, though? Mexican fans have a nice wave rolling around the Azteca.
75'
Mexico still pushing for another, looking more than at home in the 4-3-3 in Azteca.
72'
R. López enters the game and replaces M. Layún.
A smart sub from Osorio with Raul "Dedos" Lopez, the U-23 right back, into the match for Miguel Layun. Might as well give the kid some reps.
Ooo close from Guardado with his body weight falling away from the ball on a half-volley attempt.
71'
Chance there for El Tri, but it's cleared away alertly by El Salvador.
70'
Vela hasn't scored in the Azteca since 2009 against El Salvador.
69'
P. Punyed enters the game and replaces Y. Salamanca.
68'
Ibsen Castro is not a horrible outside back, but he can't cope with Jesus Corona. Been beaten time and time again by the Porto youngster.
Raul Jimenez tries an overhead kick that goes nowhere near the goal, and to add insult to injury he's offside. Can't fault him for trying, though.

GOAL! Corona plays in Vela who chips Hernandez for a lovely goal for Mexico. It's 3-0!
Guardado found Corona, who shifted onto his right to beat one center back and used a diagonal pass to dispatch the second. Vela's finish was nice, but he hugs Corona after, knowing where the chance came from.
63'
Corona with the service out wide, but it's too close to Henry Hernandez, who snages it out of the air then tries a long boot that goes right to Mexico goalkeeper Moises Munoz.
60'
J. Vázquez enters the game and replaces J. Hernández.
It's Guardado again, why not? This time, it's over the goal.
59'
Nice work from Vela to win a free kick not far from where Guardado put in the first goal.
Well, like on the other side of the field, but same distance from the goal Mexico is attacking, you understand hopefully.
56'
Corona gets the ball inside the box and beats one man, but his cross is deflected out by Castro.
54'
Pineda of El Salvador gets the ball near midfield and tries to get wide and hold it up, but help doesn't arrive and he has his pocket picked.
53'
The ball is in the back of the net, but it won't count. There's a foul in the build up.
50'
No a ball from the outside of the foot that is so bad the commentators are laughing out loud. Think that was Guardado on that one.
49'
Cross from near the midfield line is far too heavy for Vela to run down.
48'
Good ball in for Mexico and it's headed away by Ibsen Castro.
46'
Second half is underway!
45' +1
J. Alas enters the game and replaces R. Burgos.
45'
Mexico again in possession. This could get very ugly. Fans wanted a goleada, a huge win, and while the players were diplomatic, they might deliver.
42'
H. Herrera has scored a goal for Mexico! Assist by J. Corona.
GOAL! Chicharito gets the final touch on it and Mexico goes up 2-0.
Perhaps it's a goal from Hector Herrera. He chipped in for the forward, but it doesn't look like he got a touch on it. Yes, Hernandez missed and HH gets the goal.
37'
Corner kick won by Mexico. Hector Herrera heads over to take it.
Foul on, looks like Vela, negates that corner.
34'
Mexico playing slowly now, giving fans a chance to shout their oles and enjoy the dominiant first half-hour.
31'
Fuentes with a good ball this time, and Chicharito gets into space but his header is again off the mark. Rare for a player who is usually so good in the air, but he's struggled with headers tonight.
30'
Layun with a dangerous pass to his center backs and Munoz comes all the way off his line to boot away the clearance.
29'
Shove in the back from Burgos against Ayala, which Lopez whistles as a foul. El Salvador's only hope seems to be a long ball catching El Tri off guard, and so far they've been alert.
27'
Rafael Burgos giving Hector Moreno a bit of pressure as a long ball comes his way, but the PSV center back heads it to Munoz and the danger is cleared.
25'
A bit of a foray forward from La Selcta, but a poor pass from Pineda goes right to Moreno and Mexico driving things again.
23'
Corona with a great effort on the half volley that just goes over Hernandez's goal, though the El Salvador keeper might have had it covered.
21'
Mexico with a chance through the center, but Salamanca steps to Chicharito and takes the ball off his feet. Mexico still in possession.
20'
Hugo Ayala is totally alone as the free kick comes to him, but the Tigres defender can't put it on target.
19'
Well, Guardado put in a really poor cross, but El Salvador's center back panicked and sent the ball out for a corner kick even though there was nobody around.
16'
El Salvador bursts forward on a counter-attack, but both defensive midfielders get back with Herrera making the tackle.
15'
Fuentes comes up and doesn't do much to show why he's the surprise starter, spraying a cross out for a goal kick.
Osorio has the spectacles on and is writing in the notebook in the technical area. He has to love how the first 15 minutes of his tenure went.
12'
Excellent touch by Corona to bring the ball down. He eats up his marker and gets to the line. The ball across the goalmouth is there for the taking, but Vela can't get on the end of it.
11'
Chicharito gets free on a free kick there, and he's totally alone near the spot, but his header down is off the mark and goes out for a goal kick.
9'
Off the post! It would have been easier for Chicharito to score there, but it bounces off the post.
Corona set that up and put a dangerous ball in that went to the back post, but the Bayer Leverkusen star can only put it against the post.
8'
Free kick was from around 23 yards out. Guardado walks up, hits it with his left, puts it over the wall and into the upper 90. Lovely.
7'
A. Guardado has scored a goal for Mexico!
GOLAZO! Andres Guardado puts the free kick beyond reach and Mexico is ahead.
6'
Layun, typically on the left, puts in a cross from the right side toward Corona, but it's well defended. Layun now tucking in a bit and Mexico ends up drawing a foul.
4'
Well, Mexico has another chance, but Oribe Peralta's effort is blocked. El Tri back in possession, though, controlling things in the early going.
3'
Penalty shout but nothing given! Chicharito was in the box and went down, but Walter Lopez, the Guatemalan referee, sees no issue. Looks like he was right.
2'
Ball headed toward Pineda as El Salvador looking for something early, but he can't bring it in and it's out for a Mexico throw.
1'
The ball is rolling with Mexico kicking off wearing all black and El Salvador in all white.
Welcome to Goal's commentary of Mexico's first World Cup qualifier of the 2018 cycle. El Salvador is in the Estadio Azteca.
The El Salvador national anthem has played, and now for the Mexican anthem.
Let's take this opportunity to look at how the teams will line up.
Mexico, in its first match under Juan Carlos Osorio, will have Moises Munoz as the goalkeeper. Miguel Layun will start at right back with Hugo Ayala and Hector Moreno in the middle. Luis Fuentes is on the right. Hector Herrera and Andres Guardado are in the midfield with Jesus "Tecatito" Corona and Carlos Vela playing wide. Oribe Peralta and Chicharito will look to score up top.
El Salvador is missing many players after a plyer strike caused the federation to ban some players while others are staying away.
Henry Hernandez is in goal for El Salvador. The defenders are Isben Castro, Henry Romero, Roberto Dominguez and Juan Barhona. Dustin Coreas lines up on the right of the midfield with Gerson Mayen and Diego Chavarria in the middle. Denis Pineda is the left midfielder. Yubini Salamanca is the second striker with Rafael Burgos in front of him.
Burgos was an injury worry, and El Salvador will be very pleased to have him there.
That's the break. Impressive first half for Mexico sees it head into the half up 2-0.
Veteran Jaime Alas enters for El Salvador.
That's it! There will be no stoppage time as Mexico opens World Cup qualifying with a comfortable win. A depleted El Salvador team was no match for El Tri, who could have won this one by several more goals on a different night.
